Club News:

Oct. 8th, we gathered at the home of Mike and JoAnn Vath of Apple Valley MN.  The food was plentiful and a couple of the ladies asked for recipes of a couple dishes they liked.  JoAnn was quick with the recipes and blank recipe cards for them to copy.  After diligently coping one of the recipes and starting a second one, Mike stated, “I can make copies on the copier”.  The ladies were astonished that the idea hadn’t emerged before and everyone had a good laugh.  The collection was great to look at and also for sale; you can go to http://visi.com/~pepsimike/sell/  and see the collection.

Minutes from Oct.8th meeting:

Present: Terry and Jenny Strayhall, Mike and JoAnn Vath, Gary and Carol Kilstrom, Ron and Char Haring, Terry Brennan, Craig and Kathy Leaf, Bob and Merrie Schoonover, Mel and Barb Beaver, Will and Jean Hoekman, Dale Borth and Staci Clark.

The meeting was called to order by Terry Strayhall, club president, who welcomed us to the Vath’s home.  He thanked Mike and JoAnn for the food, fun and great purchases.  One correction was made to the minutes from the last meeting; Jenny Strayhall is running for treasurer, not secretary.  The minutes were then passed by a motion from Jean H., and seconded by Gary K...

Treasurer report:

   Beginning balance:   $2,347.40

   Raffle                          $150.00

    Member dues:               $25.00

   Ending balance:        $2,522.40

This report was passed after a motion by Craig L., and seconded by JoAnn V..

Old business:

1.     Raffle or 50/50 drawing for the Christmas meeting.  After discussion, it was decided that we would hold a 50/50 drawing.  Motion was made to accept by Terry B. and seconded, by Char H.

2.     Flags:  After contacting the company, we can have flags made up with current logo, no setup fee but it was decided we did not want the current logo.  With setup fee, we can have any design made up and the cost would run at 3 flags @$145.00; 6 flags @ $89 and 12@$71 each.  These are heavy duty flags that will withstand the weather not the decorative type.  Possible designs are to be submitted to Terry Brennan.  Possible suggestions so far: double dot crown or copy the diamond label.  Contact me at dietpepzi@mchsi.com with you ideas.

3.     At Pepsi fest this coming year, we will be supplying a few games to play during the Chapters meeting and Family fun fest event.  Prizes for these games had been mentioned but after conferring with the officers of the PCCC, it was decided no prizes would be offered as they will be offered for free to everyone.

4.     Shirts…Gary and Carol Kilstrom have made arrangements for new shirts to be made by Breedloves Sporting Goods in Kewanee IL.  The t-shirts/long sleeve t-shirts are Jerzee brand and 50/50 blend and available in most colors.  Cost for the t-shirts is $12 and $14 for XXL or larger, long sleeve t-shirts are $15/$17 and crew neck sweatshirts are $17/$19 and we now have hoodies at $21/$23.  These will have our club logo embroidered on the left chest.  Orders are to be place with the Kilstroms ASAP so that they may be available at the Christmas party.  You can contact them at (309) 853-4584 or email ckilo58@hotmail.com .  Their mailing address is 426 E Church St, Kewanee IL 61443.

5.     Red Wing pottery:  Dale and Staci visited the two Red Wing manufacturers in WI.  One of them needed a minimum of 35 orders to get any price break.  The other company we can order 125 transfers of club logo.  These could be used yearly by the club on whichever item we wanted.  A website, http://www.redwingpottery.com has a catalog that you can look at to see what they have to offer.

This newsletter is running short in order to get it out before the Christmas party.  Hope to see you there Saturday.  If you decide to come and haven’t already sent in your meal selection to Jenny Strayhall, please contact her immediately.  The Christmas party will be held at the Okoboji restaurant in Newton.  Menu selections are: smothered chicken ($13), jumbo fried shrimp ($15) and bacon wrapped filet ($19) with two sides: party potatoes, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, corn, green beans or steamed vegetables.  Each person is responsible for the cost of their meal and the club will pick up costs of drinks, taxes and gratuity.  Doors will open at 2pm; meeting at 2:30pm and dinner around 5pm and we must be out by 6pm.
